Suomi-Koti, truly a home, not just a house
Suomi-Koti Toronto is a seniors' residential and long term care facility in the heart of Toronto's Leaside district. It is a modern, state of the art building designed with the needs of active and frail seniors in mind. Services and activities are provided in a caring environment that is culturally and linguistically sensitive. Suomi-Koti is a non-profit charitable organization.
The ground floor of the building is comprised of commercial/office space that includes medical and dental offices, a pharmacy and a hairdresser. On the 2nd to 6th floors are tenants apartments or life lease homes. The nursing home facility is located on the 7th floor of the building..
The History of Suomi-Koti
In 1982, five Finnish congregations envisioned a seniors' residential complex which included nursing home facilities. The Toronto Finnish-Canadian Seniors Centre (Suomi-Koti, Toronto) opened in 1987 with rental and home-privilege (life-lease) apartments. In 1992, the thirty-four bed nursing home facility was added to the Centre to further provide for the needs of the Toronto Finnish Community.
